Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about creating your mosaic, your privacy, and how delivery works.

Getting started

How does Mozaify work? +

You upload two things: a main photo — the image your mosaic will depict — and a collection of tile photos — the smaller images that make up the mosaic grid. Our engine analyses your main photo, matches each tile to the right region by colour and tone, and assembles a high-resolution mosaic where every tile is one of your own photos.

Zoom out and you see the portrait. Zoom in and you see the memories.

Do I need to create an account or log in? +

No. There is no account, no username, no password. You simply visit mozaify.com, upload your photos, and go through the process. Your email address is only used to send you the download link — nothing else.

How many tile photos should I upload? +
150+ photos gives the richest, most detailed result. This is the single most important factor in mosaic quality.

With fewer tiles the engine has to reuse the same photos repeatedly, which makes the mosaic look repetitive up close. With 150+ unique photos, each tile region gets the best possible colour match and the mosaic reads beautifully at every zoom level.

The minimum is 10 photos, but we strongly recommend aiming for 100–200. Holiday albums, family gatherings, and event photos work perfectly as tile sets.

Why were some of my photos skipped? +

Photos above 10 MB are automatically skipped. This limit exists because very large files slow down the upload significantly without improving mosaic quality — our engine resizes all tiles internally before assembly anyway.

If some of your best photos were skipped, try reducing their size before uploading. Most phones have a "send as smaller size" option when sharing, or you can use a free tool like Squoosh to compress them below 10 MB.

The upload screen shows a count of how many tiles were skipped so you know what happened. Skipped photos are not uploaded to our server — they are filtered entirely on your device before the upload begins.

What makes a good main photo? +

Portraits work best — a single person or a small group with a clear face and a relatively simple background. High contrast between subject and background helps the mosaic read clearly from a distance.

Photos with very busy backgrounds (trees, crowds, complex patterns) work less well because the mosaic blends into the background and the subject becomes harder to read. Simple, well-lit portrait photos give the best results.

Preview and purchase

Can I see a preview before paying? +

Yes — always. After uploading your photos and clicking Generate, a watermarked preview is shown before any payment is requested. You can see exactly how your mosaic looks and decide whether to proceed.

If you are not happy with the preview, you can go back and change your main photo or tile images before purchasing.

What are the differences between the five tiers? +

All five tiers produce the same quality mosaic — the difference is the output resolution and the recommended print size. Choose the tier that matches the physical size you intend to print:

  • Small ₹499 — ~2850 × 2850 px — best print: 18″ × 18″ (desk or shelf display)
  • Medium ₹999 — ~3900 × 3900 px — best print: 2ft × 2ft (framed wall gift)
  • Large ₹1,499 — ~5800 × 5800 px — best print: 3ft × 3ft (statement wall art)
  • Premium ₹1,999 — ~7700 × 7700 px — best print: 4ft × 4ft (feature wall)
  • Signature ₹2,499 — ~11600 × 11600 px — best print: 6ft × 6ft (large-format showpiece)

All tiers are delivered as high-resolution JPEG files. For digital sharing or smaller prints, Small or Medium is ideal. For large wall art, choose Large, Premium, or Signature.

Can I gift a mosaic to someone else? +

Yes. Simply enter the recipient's email address in the email field at checkout. The download link will be sent directly to them once the mosaic is generated. You pay, they receive.

If you have a coupon code that makes the order free, you can go through the same process without any payment being charged.

Can international customers pay? +

Yes. International Visa, Mastercard, and Amex cards are accepted. Payment is processed by Razorpay, one of India's most trusted payment gateways, with international card acceptance enabled.

UPI is available for Indian customers. For customers outside India, international card payment is the recommended method.

Delivery and output

How is my mosaic delivered? +

Once your payment is confirmed, HD generation begins automatically. When complete — typically within 3–6 minutes — you are shown a download button on screen and a download link is sent to the email address you provided at checkout.

The file is a high-resolution JPEG ready to save, share, or send to a print shop.

How long is the download link valid? +

The download link is valid for 72 hours from the time your order is placed. After that, the file and all associated data are permanently deleted from our server as part of our automatic privacy cleanup.

Please save your file to your device as soon as possible after downloading.

How large are the output files? +

File sizes vary depending on the tier and the complexity of your photos:

  • Small — typically 1–2 MB
  • Medium — typically 2–4 MB
  • Large — typically 4–7 MB
  • Premium — typically 8–14 MB
  • Signature — typically 20–35 MB

These are high-quality JPEGs suitable for large-format printing.

What print size should I use for my mosaic? +

For the best experience — where both the main portrait reads clearly from a distance and the individual tile photos are clearly visible up close — print at or near the recommended size for your tier:

  • Small — recommended 18″ × 18″. Below 9″ tiles appear very small. Beyond 19″ image may show pixelation.
  • Medium — recommended 2ft × 2ft. Below 13″ tiles appear very small. Beyond 2.2ft image may show pixelation.
  • Large — recommended 3ft × 3ft. Below 1.6ft tiles appear very small. Beyond 3.2ft image may show pixelation.
  • Premium — recommended 4ft × 4ft. Below 2.1ft tiles appear very small. Beyond 4.3ft image may show pixelation.
  • Signature — recommended 6ft × 6ft. Below 3.2ft tiles appear very small. Beyond 6.4ft image may show pixelation.

Smaller prints will still show a beautiful portrait — the main image reads well at any size. The tile photos simply become harder to discern at smaller print sizes. For digital sharing on screen, all tiers look excellent at any zoom level using the built-in viewer.

We recommend using a professional large-format photo print service for the best results. Standard A4 or A3 prints are too small for most tiers.

How long does generation take? +

Preview generation (before payment) takes 1–3 minutes depending on your tile count. HD generation after payment takes 3–6 minutes. Larger tile sets and higher tiers take slightly longer.

Please keep the page open during generation — it will update automatically when your mosaic is ready.

Privacy and security

Where are my photos stored and for how long? +

Your photos are stored on a private, secure server located in Mumbai, India, hosted by Linode/Akamai. They are used solely to generate your mosaic and are never viewed by any person.

All photos, generated mosaics, and session data are automatically and permanently deleted within 72 hours of your order being placed.

There is no secondary copy, no archive, and no backup — when the cleanup routine deletes your files, they are gone permanently.

Can I delete my data before the 72-hour automatic deletion? +

Yes. After your HD mosaic is delivered, a Delete my data now button appears on the download screen. A deletion link is also included in your delivery email.

Clicking it will immediately and permanently remove all your uploaded photos and mosaic files from our server. This cannot be undone.

If you have already closed the browser and cannot find the delivery email, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete your data manually within 24 hours.

Are my photos shared with anyone? +

No. Your photos never leave our server and are never shared with, sold to, or processed by any third party. The only external services involved are Razorpay (payment only — they never see your photos) and Resend (email delivery only — they receive your email address to send your download link).

We do not use advertising networks, analytics trackers, or social media pixels of any kind.

How are my photos protected? +

In transit: All connections to mozaify.com are protected by HTTPS/TLS via Cloudflare. Data between your device and our server is fully encrypted.

At rest: The server disk is encrypted using AES-256, applied at the infrastructure level by Linode/Akamai. AES-256 is the standard used by financial institutions and major cloud providers globally.

Backups: Linode automatic backups are not enabled. No snapshots of your data are taken at any time.

Is mozaify.com a safe site? +

Yes. Mozaify is a legitimate platform built and operated by an individual developer. It is a new site — launched in April 2026 — which means automated safety tools may flag it as "unknown" simply because it has no history yet. This is standard for any new website and does not indicate any risk.

The site uses HTTPS throughout, processes payments through Razorpay (a regulated payment gateway), does not install any software, does not change browser settings, and does not redirect to other sites. There are no downloads other than the mosaic you pay for.

You can read our full Privacy Policy for complete details on how your data is handled.
